New Aceo's!!

I have been working on some new Aceo's to replace the ones that have sold! This seems to be a very collectable market and the interest is growing! Along with my sculptures I have added these little gems to the mix. What a great way to collect artwork at a reasonal price!

What are Aceos?:
ACEOs are miniature pieces of art that measure 2-1/2" x 3-1/2". If a small piece of art has different measurements than this, it does not qualify as an ACEO.

Aceo Art Cards

I have recently started to offer these at my website and I am finding that they are very enjoyable to do! Outside of my usual work of making sculptures it is a nice break! I only started doing these a few days ago and I was surprised at the amount of people that collect them! I made my first Aceo sale on 6/24/2011.
They are a great way to collect artwork at a reasonable price! And very inexpensive if you are looking for a way to nurture your artistic abilities!

The Pros and the Cons

THE PROS AND THE CONS
This is my opinion of selling art work at different venues available to the artist. I have tried these and wanted to share my experience with you so you have something to consider when looking for ways to market your work.
FARMERS MARKETS:
PROS:
Exposure: a lot of people come to these venues to walk around and spend some time outdoors, so people do get to see what you are offering. It also gives you the opportunity to tell people about your art and hand out your business cards in hopes of some future sales. There is always the chance that you will make a sale or two at these places depending on what you are selling. The cost for setting up is low so it doesn’t take a bite out of your marketing budget.
CONS:
However, when people come to a “farmers market” they are not looking for art.  Most likely they are in the market for some fresh green beans or hummus. So if this is what you are selling you should be just fine!

Flea Markets:
Pros:
None that I could find!
CONS:
It is a flea market and people are there to get items cheap! This is no place for an artist. Oh they will want your art but at your expense! These are a bargain hunter’s paradise not for an artist that has put their heart and soul into their creations! Stay away unless you want to sell used house hold goods! Your work deserves a better audience!

More on this subject coming soon so check back often!

I Have Seen This First Hand............

I have seen this first hand…………
I was a diver for more than 14 years. During that time I did several under water cleanups at various locations. During those years I noticed an increase in the trash that was senselessly being dropped along the beaches and off of boats. Beers and soda tabs just popped and discarded in the ocean. Not to even speak of the plastic and wrappers that was littering the beach just waiting for the chance to take sail on the waves.
Although there were trash containers available for use, very few were using them to dispose of the debris.  I thought that maybe their thinking was “one little piece of trash won’t matter”!  Well it does matter, and it matters to the creatures that live beneath the waves.  And it should matter to all of us! Fish, birds, turtles, whales, dolphins to name a few mistake this debris for food. Well if the fish are eating this…what do you think you are eating? Did you ever consider that?
When you get a moment, check out this web site for some good information on trash and plastic pollution. http://5gyres.org/what_is_the_problem
It’s up to us….one person at a time! When you visit the beach make sure you leave with everything you brought with you! Only leave your foot prints in the sand, everything else in the can...>)))’>
All my items I create are made with recyclable materials to help perserve our planet........>)))'>
