New Aceo's!!

I have been working on some new Aceo's to replace the ones that have sold! This seems to be a very collectable market and the interest is growing! Along with my sculptures I have added these little gems to the mix. What a great way to collect artwork at a reasonal price!

What are Aceos?:
ACEOs are miniature pieces of art that measure 2-1/2" x 3-1/2". If a small piece of art has different measurements than this, it does not qualify as an ACEO.

Aceo Art Cards

I have recently started to offer these at my website and I am finding that they are very enjoyable to do! Outside of my usual work of making sculptures it is a nice break! I only started doing these a few days ago and I was surprised at the amount of people that collect them! I made my first Aceo sale on 6/24/2011.
They are a great way to collect artwork at a reasonable price! And very inexpensive if you are looking for a way to nurture your artistic abilities!

The Pros and the Cons

THE PROS AND THE CONS
This is my opinion of selling art work at different venues available to the artist. I have tried these and wanted to share my experience with you so you have something to consider when looking for ways to market your work.
FARMERS MARKETS:
PROS:
Exposure: a lot of people come to these venues to walk around and spend some time outdoors, so people do get to see what you are offering. It also gives you the opportunity to tell people about your art and hand out your business cards in hopes of some future sales. There is always the chance that you will make a sale or two at these places depending on what you are selling. The cost for setting up is low so it doesn’t take a bite out of your marketing budget.
CONS:
However, when people come to a “farmers market” they are not looking for art.  Most likely they are in the market for some fresh green beans or hummus. So if this is what you are selling you should be just fine!

Flea Markets:
Pros:
None that I could find!
CONS:
It is a flea market and people are there to get items cheap! This is no place for an artist. Oh they will want your art but at your expense! These are a bargain hunter’s paradise not for an artist that has put their heart and soul into their creations! Stay away unless you want to sell used house hold goods! Your work deserves a better audience!

More on this subject coming soon so check back often!

I Have Seen This First Hand............

I have seen this first hand…………
I was a diver for more than 14 years. During that time I did several under water cleanups at various locations. During those years I noticed an increase in the trash that was senselessly being dropped along the beaches and off of boats. Beers and soda tabs just popped and discarded in the ocean. Not to even speak of the plastic and wrappers that was littering the beach just waiting for the chance to take sail on the waves.
Although there were trash containers available for use, very few were using them to dispose of the debris.  I thought that maybe their thinking was “one little piece of trash won’t matter”!  Well it does matter, and it matters to the creatures that live beneath the waves.  And it should matter to all of us! Fish, birds, turtles, whales, dolphins to name a few mistake this debris for food. Well if the fish are eating this…what do you think you are eating? Did you ever consider that?
When you get a moment, check out this web site for some good information on trash and plastic pollution. http://5gyres.org/what_is_the_problem
It’s up to us….one person at a time! When you visit the beach make sure you leave with everything you brought with you! Only leave your foot prints in the sand, everything else in the can...>)))’>
All my items I create are made with recyclable materials to help perserve our planet........>)))'>

There never seems to be enough time!

Between  chores and booking art sales I never have enough time to spend in the studio! I know it takes a lot of work but my biggest thing is the days are way to short. I no sooner get started and the sun is going down and then I stress half the evening about getting more of my art completed for the next show! Guess I should be happy about that considering that sales are up. I need someone to do all that "other" stuff so I can just focus on my work :-) That would be ideal!

Here's some of my new items I am soon to be offering! Angel fish are one of the requests I receive often so I decided it was time to put them in production. Sea horses are popular to.

All my work comes ready for display, the hardware for hanging  is part of the physical
structure of each sculpture.

Does it Make You Crazy?? Or is it Just me?

I took a drive to the grocery store to get a can of pepper. This should have been real easy...no cart..one item..in and out. One would think so anyways.

The store was very busy as you might guess with a long line of people waiting to check out,and there was 2 checkers available to assist you! What the heck is that? What happened to "customer service"??

To make things even worse (yes it can get worse) the lady in front of me had a cart with one 1/2 gallon of ice cream in it. Guess this was way to heavy to carry on its own. Well after about 15 minutes in line to buy this can of pepper, it is her turn to check out.

She must have saved up enough energy to lift the ice cream out of her cart and place in on the counter..because she left her cart right where it was in every bodies way! The people behind me with carts were not going to get any farther down the line unless the cart was removed.

I told the lady that she can not just leave the cart, she needed to take it down the line with her and return it to its proper place. Her reply...Oh I am done with it! ( can you guess what I wanted to do?) I ended up pushing the cart through myself so I could finally purchase my pepper!

I find this self centered attitude everywhere anymore. What is this world coming to?

Where the magic happens

Hello everyone!

Hi! Just wanted to introduce myself and tell you a bit about what I do! My name is Claudia and I am an artist living in southern California for the past 32 years. My company name is Liquid Assets. I adopted this name for the very reason I create these sculptures. Water is an asset to be protected. It is the one thing we can not do without!

A lot of my time was spent scuba diving in the cold waters of the pacific ocean. During those diving years, I grew to love the marine environment. Back when I first started diving there were plenty of fish in the sea! ( not talking about the kind you date! LOL)

Over time I began to notice a decrease in the numbers of marine life and an increase in the amount of trash. Not only was there garbage all over the ocean floor, but animals were wearing fishing line and 6 pack holders as necklaces. It was a very sad sight to see such beauty soiled by what man has done to our oceans.

It is my wish, through my art, to bring awareness to the importance of clean water for all of us and to protect our marine life before it's to late. With out clean water we are all an endangered species. One day your childrens' children may only know about these creatures by holding one of my sculptures in their hands.
